Briquet — name of the restaurant and French translation for ‘lighter’ — is a term that used to be commonly used by people in Antwerp, which gives it a kind of nostalgic feeling. Hence the meaning of the restaurant’s name, more traditional design choices were made while still using contemporary elements. Typography inspired by fire was blown up until they became abstract elements that together with the color red references flames.

Briquet — with it’s big terrace, bar with wines from the tap and a small but creative menu — is an accessible contemporary bistro located on a corner in Borgerhout serving fun plates with their own twist.
